Ask a Vet: Training Kitty To Use The Litterbox
Doctor Tecla Myrick is here today talking about inappropriate urination in cats
The first thing you should do if your cat is urinating inappropriately, is take the cat to your veterinarian.
The vet will want to do a thorough physical exam and most likely a urinalysis.
There are both medical and behavioral reasons for why a cat might urinate outside of the litter box.
Some medical causes are: Infection, inflammation, crystals, diabetes, or kidney disease.
Possible bahavioral causes include: Stress, not having enough litter boxes, or changing the type of litter.
If you have any questions contact your veterinarian, or feel free to contact Dr. Myrick at ACAS at 352-264-6870
