In today's Ask A Vet, Dr. Tecla Myrick stopped by to talk about the importance of having your pets spayed or neutered. Doing so can increase the quality and quantity of the life of your pet. There are numerous health benefits, such as preventing cancer, as well as behavioral benefits. Spaying and neutering is also the best way to decrease pet overpopulation.
Statistics:
In 6 years 1 dog and its offspring can have 67,000 puppies.
In 7 years 1 cat and its offspring can have 420,000 kittens.
8 million dogs and cats are euthanised yearly in the United States due to overpopulation.
