Amanda Decker
Each morning, Amanda hopes to help start your day off right as the Morning and Noon Anchor for WCJB TV 20 alongside Meteorologist Mike Potter. She joined the TV 20 news team in June 2006.
Before coming to Gainesville, Amanda attended Ball State University where she received degrees in Broadcast Journalism, Journalism Writing and Political Science. While at Ball State, she worked as an Anchor/Reporter for WIPB, the college-run PBS affiliate in Muncie, Indiana.
While in college, Amanda was nominated for several awards, including receiving a News Emmy nomination from the Lower Great Lakes chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
A native of Canton, Ohio, Amanda grew up in Indianapolis, but is now glad to be in Florida where she can enjoy the warmer winter weather. When she's not at work, Amanda is active in the Gainesville community, volunteering with several organizations around town. She's the station's spokesperson for the Light the Night organization, she volunteers with the March of Dimes as TV20's WalkAmerica chairperson, and is also a Big Sister with the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program.
In her free time, Amanda enjoys playing tennis and spending plenty of time in the sun. She loves exploring North Central Florida, finding great places to eat with her friends, and spending time with her cat, Hallie, who she adopted from the Alachua County Animal Services.
