David HamiltonA native of Easley, S.C., David Hamilton joined WCJB TV20 as a Reporter/Fill-in Anchor in December 2004. David spent two years reporting from the station's Marion County Bureau in Ocala, but moved to the main newsroom in Gainesville in 2006. David is an award-winning Feature Reporter, taking home First Place Feature Reporting Awards from the Society of Professional Journalists and the Associated Press. During his time at TV20, David has reported on everything from the BCS College Football National Championship to the 100-thousand acre wildfire that tore through Columbia County - but it is feature reporting that he enjoys the most. From tuning into the 'Dukes of Hazzard' as a child to religiously watching ESPN's SportsCenter as a teen, David has always been fascinated with television. So, it's no surprise that one day during high school, he decided he wanted to pursue a career on TV. David graduated from the University of Miami in May 2003 with degrees in Communication-Broadcast Journalism and History, with a minor in Spanish. While at UM, he anchored and reported at UMTV, the university's cable TV station. Prior to joining WCJB, David worked as a Feature Reporter for the Villages News Network (VNN) in The Villages, Florida. While at VNN, David's stories ranged from doing a weekly DVD review segment to covering President Bush's campaign visit.
In addition to his work on television, David is also an experienced print journalist. He has worked for the Miami Herald and several magazines as a Contributing Sports Feature Reporter. David is glad to call TV20 home. You can catch his news reports weeknights on WCJB TV20 News at 5:30 and 6 p.m., and his "Around Town with David Hamilton" feature liveshots on Friday mornings on WCJB's Morning Edition. When he's not working, David enjoys spending time with his girlfriend, friends, and family, enjoying the area's nightlife, and yes, you guessed it, watching television.
