Myra Monroe
"WCJB TV20 News at 10" anchor, Myra Monroe has more than 15 years experience covering news in Florida. She joined WCJB in 1995 as anchor of the morning news, and returned to the desk in 2007 to launch the news on the CW.
In 1997, Myra headed to the ABC affiliate in Tallahassee where she anchored the hour-long evening broadcast. While there, she covered numerous stories of state and national interest and reported nightly on children's issues. One of her stories exposed judges who failed to enforce a law protecting children from sex offenders. Another report helped further legislation to prevent mothers from abandoning their babies.
Myra left television in 2001 to raise her son. Two years later, her daughter was born. "Those years at home were very rewarding. After a decade of reporting on children's issues, I learned some important lessons firsthand, especially about the rewards and challenges of raising a child with a disability."
In addition to anchoring and producing the 10 pm news on the CW, Myra works with WCJB reporters on in-depth reports and investigative stories. "We're looking for stories that break new ground, and get to the heart of issues in our community or showcase the people and places that make North Central Florida special... and we welcome your ideas!"
Myra's reporting has garnered several awards from the Associated Press, and she was honored by the Radio Television News Directors Foundation with a fellowship to study current affairs in Germany. She has a B.S. in Telecommunication from U.F. After graduation, Myra spent several years at WUFT-FM/TV as Assistant News Director, Assignment Manager and Public Affairs Producer.
Myra's faith is most important to her. She's an active member of her church, and enjoys spending time with her husband and children boating, working on home projects or relaxing on the beach.
