THE MIXSON FAMILYTheir story started with a horrible
phone call no parent ever wants to get. "When I hung up from the phone
I was in the process of losing control of my emotions managed to
communicate to them the severity of his injuries," said John Mixson,
Catlin's Father. Those injuries were caused when a bomb blast
went through a humvee in Iraq throwing 21-year old Catlin Mixson in a
ditch on the side of the road. In order to save his life, both legs had
to be amputated, and doctors had to rebuild portions of his arm. "I'm
very upset that this has happened to him that he has to live the rest
of his life struggling without having his legs, arm injured, and the
emotion that he'll have to live with his buddies death," said Karon
Mixson, Catlin's Mother. Since his last visit during the
holidays...Catlin has been in an army hospital in San Antonio, Texas.
His sister is with him everyday while mom and dad try to piece things
together for the day he comes home for good. "The financial outlook
because our lives have been disrupted, we have a lot of things to tend
to because of this incident," said John. "I still don't sleep at
night...it's every single day is a struggle, especially when i look at
the news hear how many more have died today my heart hurts for every
single family," said Karon.
