Shani Muhammad
While growing up in Fort Lauderdale, FL., Shani knew at a very early age that she wanted a career in broadcast journalism. To help catapult her career start she attended Tennessee State University, in Nashville..the alma mater of TV Icon Oprah Winfrey. While still in college Shani managed to garner a competitive internship at the same station that gave Winfrey her start, CBS affiliate WTVF.
Prior to arriving at WCJB, Shani wore many career hats. Everything from being a Debate teacher to owning her own shoe store. But her love for news never died and it ultimately led her back to where her heart truly is.
When she's not reporting, Shani loves to travel with her family. She says that her most recent trip to Egypt and Ghana should be at the top of everyone's "Top places to visit before you die list". She's also a huge fan of Big Louie's Pizzeria on Fort Lauderdale Beach and Fantasia Barrino…in that order.
"I'm only a liaison between the action and the people who can't be there. In essence, I'm a storyteller, the people and action take center stage." Shani's always interested in a great story, if you think you have one she'd love to hear it. You can reach her by email at smuhammad@wcjb.com.
