1 dead after multi-vehicle pile up on I-75

MARION COUNTY, Fla One man died after a nine-car pile-up Friday on I-75 in Marion County.

The crash happened just before midnight near mile marker 338.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver of a semi-truck going south on the Interstate ran off the road hitting a guardrail. When trying to pull back onto the road, the driver hit four other semis and four cars.

Jarrett Tereskun, 25, of Central Florida was killed and ten others had to be treated on scene.

Hazmat crews worked to contain the diesel fuel and gasoline spills. I-75 was closed for a few hours, but has since re-opened.

The crash remains under investigation.

Earlier in the day around 12:30 PM, another crash on I-75 near Micanopy left one person dead and six others injured.
