MICANOPY, Fl. (WCJB)- One person died and six others were injured after a crash on I-75 South near Micanopy.
The crash occurred on Friday at around 12:30 pm.
Florida Highway Patrol reported David Zablidowsky, 38 of Brooklyn, New York was traveling with his metal band, Adrenaline Mob in an RV.
The RV and a passenger van were pulled onto the shoulder lane when a semi-truck collided with them, killing Zablidowsky.
“We had a RV that had pulled off to the shoulder, we aren’t sure if it was possibly disabled, and prior to it getting back to traffic it was struck in the rear by a tractor trailer. Once it got struck by the tractor trailer, the RV traveled off the roadway, caught on fire and burned to the ground,” said Lt. Patrick Riordan with the Florida Highway Patrol.
Zablidowsky was the band's bass player, and was set to perform in St. Petersburg last night.
Six others who were on the RV and passenger van are in serious condition, and one is in critical condition.
There are no charges at this time.
Patrick Dumon, who is a Marine, was traveling to Gainesville when he noticed the accident on I-75.
“I threw my car into park, hopped out and started running towards to see if I could help anyone out,” said Dumon.
Dumon also says the scene was something he would never forget.
“There was a lot of blood, Still a little freaked out by it. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that much blood and people screaming in pain like that so that was honestly something different,” said Dumon.
Fans of “Adrenaline Mob” on Twitter are offering their condolences to the members.
