Arrests made for multiple burglaries in Gainesville

GAINESVILLE FLA. (WCJB) Two Gainesville were arrested men for multiple burglaries over the past week.

Detectives made arrests on 52-year-old Terry Johnson and 56-year-old Darrell Wells.

Police say Wells drove Johnson to the businesses and Johnson broke into them.

The businesses that were burglarized were Gamestop on 13th Street, Books-A-Million on Newberry Road, China Wok on 75th Street, and Springhill Liquor on 39th Avenue. Gaming consoles, money, and several cash registers were among the things reported stolen.

“Burglaries like these are so difficult to prevent when you take a big heavy object and put it against glass that heavy object is going to win most of the time so what we urge businesses to do is make sure that they’re either using reinforced or some businesses have used roll down bars at night to prevent activities such as this," Gainesville Police Department Public Information Officer Ben Tobias said.

Johnson and Wells were arrested and taken to the Alachua County Jail both being held on $75,000 and $65,000 bond respectively.
