An artist from north central florida is repainting Tom Petty’s memorial wall along 34th street in Gainesville after it was defaced.
Another artist painted the memorial in October, and recently it was sprayed over with graffiti wthat covered most of the mural.
The artist, Blake Harrison, says he took on the project because of Petty’s impact on Gainesville and the rest of the world with his music.
He says he’ll keep repainting the wall as long as he needs to, even though it may get graffitied again.
Some fans have signed the wall with messages to the late musician, thanking him for his influence in the music world.
