Bicyclists across the nation riding to support people with disabilities

GAINESVILLE, Fla. Bicyclists from across the nation are riding to support people with disabilities.

The non-profit organization 'The Ability Experience' was founded in 1977 and is a Pi Kappa Phi philanthropy which supports people with disabilities.

Every year a team called ‘Gear Up Florida' goes on a two-week trip riding their bikes to different cities in Florida.

They stop by to spend time with the people they support.

"We want to show that these people all have different abilities,” Gear Up Florida project manager Hunter Stewart said. "Every single person here should not be looked at by their disability but rather their ability about what they can bring to the table.

Their next stop is in Jacksonville. For more information, visit www.abilityexperience.org.

Author John Spence and his wife Sheila have been sponsoring the event at The Arc of Alachua County for over a decade.
