GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) Students and Gainesville residents alike came together at the University of Florida to learn how to save a life.
Guests paid a five dollar admission fee to take part in a CPR certification course and blood drive at the Reitz Union on UF's campus.
Money raised form the event went toward purchasing automatic defibrillators for groups throughout the community.
President of GatorSavers Sulav Shreshta says that learning CPR can have a great impact on strangers and loved ones and encourages everyone to get CPR certified.
"If you love them then definitely get CPR certified because you could be that medium by which they would get that immediate help they need if they were to go into cardiac arrest before the paramedics arrive," Shreshta said.
This year's drive helped certify over five hundred people and raised nearly three thousand dollars.
