FDA approves blood test developed in NCFL

It is a big step forward in identifying brain damage following a concussion.

The FDA has approved a blood test developed by Banyan Biomarkers in Alachua. The test identifies when certain biological markers are present in the blood after a brain injury.

Currently a CT Scan is performed on people with a suspected concussion, but can be fooled if a patient with major trauma initially only shows minimal symptoms.
