Florida Attorney General honors Forest High resource deputy

A Forest High School school resource deputy has been honored by Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi for his actions during the shooting at the high school back April.

Attorney General Bondi named Cpl. Jimmy Long the 2018 School Resource Officer of the Year.

Long jumped into action when Marion County deputies say a former student, Skye Bouche, walked into Forest High School and fired a shotgun. When Dep. Long heard that gunshot, he ran toward it. Deputies say Long's actions helped stop Bouche within three minutes of firing.

Attorney General Bondi said in a tweet, "Cpl. Long is a hero & we honor him for his courage."
