A fire at a northeast Gainesville home was started by a child, according to firefighters.
Around 3:30pm, on January 11th, a 911 call was received stating a building on Northeast 16th Way was on fire. The caller said the fire was in the upstairs bedroom of the home.
Firefighters were able to put the fire out in three minutes. No one was injured.
The fire investigator determined a child playing with a lighter started the fire. The child has been referred to the Juvenile Fire Setters Program.
The Red Cross has been contacted to help the displaced residents.
