Hospitalized man might face criminal charges

A Marion County man who is hospitalized, may face criminal charges once released.

Deputies went to the home of 49 year old, Paul Powell, on Southwest 151st Place on the morning of February 5th, after he made statements that made Deputies worry about his well-being.

Powell, who had an outstanding Felony warrant for domestic battery, said he was armed. When he refused to leave his home, SWAT teams and crisis negotiators were called in.

After several hours, officers came into the house through a window and found him setting fire to the house. The entire house burned before firefighters could put it out.

Powell is being treated at UF Health in Gainesville, and charges against him are pending.
