Plans for a new international center in Gainesville are in the works.
Members of the Gainesville Chamber of Commerce International Council met today to discuss plans for the center.
The council hopes to work with the University of Florida, Santa Fe College, the City of Gainesville, businesses and others to bring all facets of international activity under one roof.
"What we want to do is create a place where everything international can happen so that we can help each other, support each other and promote the city of Gainesville as a global hub for business, culture, education, for innovation; and market the city of Gainesville to the world."
Multiple sites have been proposed for the center, including the corner of University Avenue and 13th street where the Leonardo's and Circle K currently stand.
