MCSO traffic stop leads to cocaine possession arrest

OCALA, Fls., (WCJB) -- Marion County Sheriff's Deputies arrested Eugene Johnson Jr. after a traffic stop lead to some serious finds.

This body cam footage shows Johnson's interaction with deputies after he was pulled over for going25 miles over the speed limit.

This lead to a K9 deputy conducting a free-air sniff around his vehicle where he notified deputies of narcotics in the vehicle.

Deputies searched the vehicle and found eighty grams of cocaine.

"It's a very good catch here for us in Marion County because you very rarely see that much picked up from a traffic stop," said Lauren Lettelier, MCSO PIO, "In the state of Florida, 28 grams is considered trafficking cocaine, so this is considered almost triple the considered amount in the state of Florida."

Johnson also had nearly $11,000 cash in his pockets, as well as 14 unprescribed Viagra pills. MCSO says this activity is in Johnson's criminal history.

"We did some criminal history investigation on this criminal today," aid Lettelier, "And iI found that he has been in prison for nearly a decade for cocaine possession and sale of cocaine, and also trafficking of hydrocodone,"

Johnson has been charged with one count of trafficking cocaine and possession of a harmful new legend drug.

He is being held at the marion county jail on a $51,000 bond.
