Man assaults woman and infant with BB gun

A Gainesville resident is in jail, accused of assaulting a woman and her infant with a BB gun.

Alachua County Sheriffs Deputies say they found Adrian Bynum had threatened and struck the victim and her infant with a BB gun.

The victim did not realize the gun was not real.

Deputies say he then destroyed the victim's cell phone, preventing her from calling for help.

Deputies say a child fled the scene and told a neighbor, who called authorities.

"He made the threat to her that if she was going to prevent him from being able to see his kids, he was going to take her right to see her kids away also. And that's when he had the gun in his hand and was holding it to her head," said ACSO spokesperson Art Forgey.

Lynum is being held in the Alachua County Jail on charges of aggravated assault, battery, and obstructing justice.
