Police search for man that kidnapped his ex-girlfriend, then shot her in the chest as she tried to escape

Police are looking for help from anybody who know there whereabouts of Leonard Otis Cooks Jr.

Cooks kidnapped his ex-girlfriend from her residence located at 113th Road in Suwannee County on January 2nd. The victim had an active injunction against Mr. Cooks.

She attempted to escape while on the side of US Highway 129 at the Busy Bee.

Cooks chased the her through the parking lot while shooting at her and striking her in the chest. He then fled the scene in an unknown make dark colored SUV.

The victim was life-flighted to an area hospital where she remains in critical condition.

If anyone has any information as to the whereabouts of Leonard Otis Cooks, Jr. 29 years old, please do not approach him, he is considered armed and dangerous.

There are currently active warrants for Cooks for Attempted Murder, Kidnapping, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Violation of Injunction.
