A soldier has been arrested in a Marion County cold case rape from 2009, and Marion County Deputies are asking residents to take a good look at his photos.
Deputies say 26-year-old Timothy Epps was arrested November 7th in Fort Eustis, Virginia, where he serves in the U.S. Army.
Deputies say Epp's DNA was matched to a rape at a woman's home in Marion County. They say he pretended to be a law enforcement officer when he knocked on a door of a home, belonging to a 67-year-old woman. Epps threatened her with a gun, raped her, and stole $50.
Marion County Sheriff''s Office spokesperson Lauren Lettelier said, "we want everyone to take a good look at all of the details of this crime and to see if they have anything else that matches this in their jurisdiction and for the public to come forward to see if they have been a victim of this person. "
Deputies especially want you to notice how much his appearance has changed from year to year. Detectives believe it is highly likely that Epps has committed similar crimes. He has lived in Florida, Missouri, Kentucky, and Virginia.
Epps faces charges of sexual battery with a deadly weapon, burglary, and impersonating a police officer.
