Massachusetts girl with brain cancer made honorary officer

MASSACHUSETTS - A girl from Massachusetts is fighting for her life after being diagnosed with brain cancer and police officers from her hometown are making sure that her fight is a little easier.

11-year-old Sophia Smith has a special type of brain cancer that has her and her family traveling to London every month for treatment. Insurance doesn't cover the type of treatment she receives there.

But thanks to the Cops for Kids with Cancer program, a $5,000 donation will be a big help.

This program which was started by a Boston Police Capt. that died from cancer, has raised $2.8 million and has helped out more than 500 families like the Smith's.
