P.K. Yonge holds school safety meeting

By  |

In response to increased concern surrounding school procedures across the country, P.K Yonge staff, parents, and University of Florida police officers held a meeting to make sure their students and parents are not left in the dark when it comes to safety.

We were asked to leave our cameras outside of the meeting for the privacy of those in attendance, but we were able to sit in on the discussion where officers offered advice for both parents and students to follow.

The officers suggested the "see something say something" tactic, as well as downloading the Gator Safe cell phone application.

Though there is a continuing conversation for both state legislature and school safety plans, both parents and officials agree they’re on the right track to ensuring safety.

P.K Yonge is expanding its campus and school officials urged parents the new buildings will be designed with security as a top priority.
