Police looking for suspect in connection to murder of Ocala man

Friends and family are remembering Terry Hilliard, 65, of Ocala as the man who would give anyone the shirt off his back.

They say he was friendly to everybody and now police are trying to find his killer who may have been caught on camera.

The suspect is wanted in connection to the murder of Hilliard.

"We don't know if they knew each other or if they arranged to meet or what the nature of their relationship was,” Yvonne Martinez, from the Cocoa Police Department, said,

Hilliard checked into the Dixie Motel in Cocoa to watch the Spacex rocket launch on Tuesday evening.

“He had checked into the motel with a younger male, who is the suspect we are looking for,” Martinez said.

On Wednesday morning, hotel staff called police, who found Hilliard dead in his room.

The suspect eventually left with Hilliard's car.

“We believe he was in South Florida area cause took the victim's vehicle. We recovered the victim's vehicle in Hialeah in a plaza,” Martinez said.

The man caught on the security cameras is identified as a white male in his early to mid twenties with dark hair, a goatee, and average build.

"He could be still in South Florida or he could of hitchhiked his way up to further north or even out of the state, we don't know."

Police say the killer is armed and considered dangerous.

There is a $5,000 crimeline reward for any information that can help detectives identify the man they are looking for.
