GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) -- Gainesville Police officers were responding to a call near Village & Forest Green Apartments Friday night when they heard gun shots at the complex.

A call came in to report the sound of the shots at 7:47 p.m., and when officers arrived at Forest Green minutes later they saw a car speeding out of the complex.

The officers pulled over the car and found the driver, an unidentified 30-year-old male, was shot once in the lower torso.

The driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

As of Saturday, officers are still conducting an investigation as they question both the driver and residents at Forest Green.

GPD says investigators are still working to narrow down the nature of the shooting. Anyone with information is encouraged to call GPD at (352) 955-1818.
