Tech Tuesday: Startup Challenge

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - Startup Challenge was started in November 2017. At the end of February, they held their first annual pitch competition.
Nine technology companies competed, each given four minutes to represent their tech ideas to a group of judges.

"GuestBox" won first place, $10,000 in cash. The Gainesville based company that sends care packages boxes for Airbnb rooms. Airbnb is a rental room service.

"BehaviorMe" won second place, $2500 in cash. The company is using technology to teach independent living skills to individuals with Autism and other developmental disabilities.

The competition was created by Signet, an Ohio based real-estate company. They own Infinity Hall, a dorm building at the University of Florida.

The event took place at the Hippodrome Theater in Downtown Gainesville and was sponsored by GAIN (the Gainesville Area Innovation Network), and the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce.
