GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) -- The Hippodrome is getting ready to debut a new play Wednesday night. The Legend of Georgia McBride is a play packed with glitz glam and drama.
Though the costumes are sparkling and the personalities are big, the cast is hoping to dazzle Gainesville in more ways than one.
The Legend of Georgia McBride tells the story of an unlucky Elvis impersonator who somehow finds his way of becoming a famous drag queen.
Kind of like one of the show's lead actors Jon Kovach. Kovach came to Gainesville eager to learn more about his role.
"This is my first time performing in drag," Jon said, "I got the chance to check out the one in Maudes and the drag show at the UC and it was fantastic to see the support they had and how excited people are about those events"
And it looks like he's put his research to good use. But besides the glamour what else can you expect from Georgia McBride?
"Its really about finding out who you are inside and being the best person you can be," said Stephanie Lynge, director of Georgia McBride.
The cast even gave TV20 a sneak peak of one of their favorite scenes. In the end, the cast said they're just excited for shows to begin.
"I'm so glad were having a show like this for Gainesville it will be a wonderful pride show for pride week and I think our audiences are just going to love it," said Miss Tracy Mills.
