Happy Friday everyone!

One of the bigger events in Gainesville this time of year is the Downtown Festival and Art Show. This is the 36th year for the event which features a huge variety of art from around 240 local and national artists. In addition the Imagination Station, a hands on art creation area for kids, is part of the event. There's also live music, performing arts and a wide choice of food. The fun starts with the Downtown Blues Concert at Bo Diddley Plaza tonight from 7 to 10 pm. The art show itself goes from 10 am to 5 pm Saturday and from 10 to 4 Sunday downtown near City Hall and the Hippodrome.

The City of Ocala and Feel Downtown Live are hosting the Harvest Fest Music and Food Truck Festival Saturday. For music lovers, country artist Aaron Tippin is performing while the Georgia Satellites will give the event a southern rock feel. There'll be other local and regional musicians at the event, too. And, as the name implies, you can expect a good choice of food.... from barbecue to wraps to ice cream... and more. Harvest Fest runs from 1 to 10 pm at Tuscawilla Park, located at 899 NE Sanchez Avenue in Ocala.

There's more going on around Ocala this weekend. Ocali Country Days is an event where you can get a taste of what Florida life was like in the 1800's. Old time music, storytellers and traditional crafts like syrup making and blacksmithing are part of the event. It's 9 am to 4 pm Saturday and Sunday at Silver Springs. Back over at Tuscawilla Park, the City of Ocala's "Let's Skate Ocala" ice rink opens Saturday. That's a change from previous years. You'll have until Sunday, December 31st to enjoy strapping on the skates.

In Gainesville, it's a good weekend at UF for sports. It starts with the Gator soccer team taking on South Alabama starting at 6 this evening. The fourth ranked Gator volleyball team is in the O'Connell Center tonight, facing Arkansas at 7 pm. They're back in the Odome Sunday, this time taking on Missouri at 1 pm. And the ladies basketball team is in the dome for its first game of the season. They play Georgia State at 4 pm Saturday.

Also this weekend....the annual Veterans Day Celebration Saturday morning at Veterans Memorial Park in Gainesville.

Enjoy your weekend!
