Most of the time, blankets are used for warmth. And electric blankets are plugged in to the wall for not just warmth, but heat. There is a certain type of blanket that's plugged into the wall, not for heat, but for cooling. Its not new hospital technology but is being used for some new patients for the first time. In the Medical Spotlight, Michael Weiss, M.D., a Neonatalogist at UF and Shands, explains to TV 20's David Snyder how doctors are using cooling blankets for babies born with brain injuries.
