Medical Spotlight 6/7/10 "Nanoknife"
Published June 7th, 2010
Doctors are finding more effective ways to destroy tumors that grow up inside the human body. Surgeons are using a new device to put a "charge" into killing tumors. In fact, sometimes the knives aren't actually knives. The cyberknkife, which we have showed you in the Medical Spotlight, uses radiation. An even newer surgical system does not rely on a knife or radiation.
Jim Caridi, M.D., Chief of Interventional Radiology at UF and Shands, tells TV 20's David Snyder about the idea to use electricity in destroying cancer cells.
