If you have a fever, the prescription may be bedrest--to let your body heal itself. But that doesn't work for more serious problems, such as cancer. Damaged cells simply get worse and the disease spreads unchecked. That isn't the case with a certain type of salamander that has the ability to re-generate damaged cells. In the Medical Spotlight, David learns how the axolotl salamander is teaching researchers like Ed Scott, Ph.D., of the McKnight Brain Institute, how they might do the same in people.
