Click It Or Ticket
You may have heard the catchy slogan "Click it or Ticket". Now law enforcement is buckling down on those who don't buckle up.
Wearing a seat belt is not a new concept. Law enforcement has been pushing the idea for years, however, according to the Florida Highway Patrol, more than half of the fatalities in Marion County are from people not wearing seat belts. Today, local law enforcement held a conference in the Ocala Downtown Square to make sure their message was heard and understood.
Lt. Mike Burroughs with Florida Highway Patrol says, "You tell people there is a fine and that fine will be upward of seventy five dollars, but more importantly; it's your life."
You can expect to see more officers out and about with Memorial Day weekend approaching. The Florida Highway Patrol says that last year thirty two fatalities were recorded in the three day period.
