K-9 Training
Published June 26th, 2007
Officers train these "canine cops" once a week for 10 hours and then on a one on one basis everyday. Officers say everything is built on obedience.
"Obedience is having control of your dog," says Timothy Durst, with GPD K-9 Unit. "They need to do what we tell them to do when we tell them to do it."
These dogs are not only trained to be aggressive, but social as well. The dogs train in building and area searches, along with many other skills...ready to protect and serve in any situation.
