Published September 10th, 2007
More than 35 cars were broken into in less than 48 hours, including a Sheriff's squad car. A gun was stolen from the deputy's car. He faces disciplinary action if he is found to be negligent.
The burglars are targeting cars with valuables in sight. Most of the break-ins happened in Southwest Alachua County.
Sheriff's deputies urge residents to lock their cars and remove all valuables.
