This year would have marked the Second Annual Chinese American International Piano Institute, run by a group from UF. The only problem- it was supposed to take place in one of the hardest hit areas in China. With 22,000 already dead, the UF group decided to cancel their trip. The 7.9 earthquake destroyed the city of Chengdu, where musicians from UF were, just this time last year. Those from UF who travel to China for the school, show the chinese how to play and perform. The trip ends with a multi-cultural recital. The UF group scheduled to teach in China has a new priority- to make it back next year and keep the tradition going.
