Ocala Police standoff Ends with Three Arrests

Published May 20th, 2008

Just a few yards from downtown ocala... onlookers had a front row seat to a nearly five hour police standoff.
Shortly after one o'clock this afternoon police received a call about trespassers and possible drug activity... at the Parkside apartment complex in northwest Ocala.
when they showed one teen came out... but two other people remained inside.

As Ocala SWAT team members shot off tear gas volleys... close to twenty of them...onlookers watched. Including twenty five year old Terrance Overstreet.
"Come on out..and get it over with!"
Overstreet had been visiting a cousin when police began to rope off the back portion of Parkside apartments. In his opinion the attic wasn't a smart move.
"Yeah they're going to get caught regardless....cause the attic it leads through the whole building...they can either go down or up."

Shortly after one o'clock this afternoon police received a call about trespassers and possible drug activity... at the Parkside apartment complex in Northwest Ocala.
When they showed up a 15-year old boy came out...and two other individuals remained inside...
Sgt Angy Scroble with the Ocala police said..."They thought they may be armed."
"They were refusing to give themselves up...one is a juvenile with a pick up order for absconding."

Three hours into the standoff a juvenile surrendered after an aunt spoke with him over a swat "throw phone". since he is a juvenile we're not releasing his name.
Scroble identified the adult as Javon Fredricks.
"One is an adult with a bench warrant for possession of paraphernalia and tampering with evidence."

Nearly five hours after the standoff began...the last suspect...28-year old Javon Fredricks surrendered....after withstanding nearly 20 volleys of tear gas...swat team members poured water on his face.

Fredricks had a bench warrant for possession of paraphernalia and tampering with evidence, which carried no bond.
He sits in the Marion County jail tonight on burglary and obstruction of justice charges.
