Human remains found in Ocklawaha
A boater enjoying a Sunday afternoon on the water drifted by an unusual sight that has the attention of law enforcement.
That site was a human torso that was found along the the banks of the Ocklawaha river.
An autopsy has shown that it belongs to a young adult but because of decomposition they can't tell the gender.
Today the Marion County Sheriff's Office dive team took on the challenge of looking for the rest of the remains.
Marion County Dive Instructor Rodney Counts talks about one of those challenges,"
As soon as you go down about six inches, all you can see is a little bit of surface light, and then once you go further than that it's like being in a solid black room."
The sheriff's office asks citizens to call crime stoppers at 368-STOP if you have any information about this crime.
