Solar Energy in Gainesville
Published October 14th, 2008
Your homes roof may soon earn you money and lower your utility bills according to G-R-U latest solar power initiative.
On a recent fact finding trip to Germany --G-R-U staffers learned of new ways to harness solar energy.
While G-R-U already offers rebates to home owners who install solar panels, they are now planning to step up the program to make it more accessible to small and large business owners... by doubling their rate of return.
"We will buy solar energy from you for .26 cents a kilowatt hour, right now you're buying electricity for .14 cents a kilowatt hour. So it's a pretty good deal."
While solar technology is still expensive , G-R-U authorities say the value lies in economic stimulation, and energy security.
