Earlier this week Alachua County Sheriff Sadie Darnell conducted an oath of office ceremony at the Institute Of Public Safety.
Sheriff Darnell administered the oath of office to twenty four new detention officers. There also was a promotion ceremony for six newly promoted employees. five of them were promoted to sergeant and one of them was promoted to lieutenant.
"Its rewarding to see people coming up through the ranks and taking on that added responsibility."
Many of these new ranks were in preparation for the jail expansion that begins next month.
