Cards for Soliders
Published November 12th, 2008
A group of children in Gainesville found a different way to celebrate Veterans day this afternoon. Instead of participating in events around town ... these kids headed to the post office.
They decorated greeting cards at the Gainesville post office off Southwest Thirty fourth street. Jason Knott, Customer Relations Coordinator for the Post Office, says the cards will go to troops overseas.
"We think it'd be a good thing to get this time of year. They're away from home and the holidays are tough when they're not at home. So, we're going to try and make they're holidays a little brighter."
Knott says the Post Office teamed up with local boy and girl scout troops to organize the project.
