Holiday Giveaway
Christmas came early for some women... receiving cars and computers as part of one group's holiday giveaway but a pair of crimes almost ruined today's event.
Patricia Brown is one of three women to receive a car... as part of the dignity project's holiday giveaway.
The Dignity Project restores donated vehicles and computers... then at events like the holiday giveaway provides them to the needy.
But a few weeks ago organizers were unsure if the event would actually happen.
On October 23rd and 24th police say this man-- 26 year old Luke Marshall Barnett-- entered the Dignity Project Property... damaging two vehicles by smashing out windows but staff members were determined to go ahead with the event.
A Big help came from young community members.
Students from Gainesville High and The Horizon Center helped as part of Dignity's Computer Restoration and auto Repair Internship Programs.
And recipients like brown say they're extremely grateful that the event went as planned.
In total three cars and six computers were given away by the Dignity Project.
Luke Marshall Barnett faces charges of burglary and criminal mischief.
