WORKING THE HOLIDAYS
Published November 27th, 2008
It's a day for giving thanks.
Many people give thanks for not having to work, but some employees never get a break on holidays.
Ocala Fire-Rescue Station 1 spent their holiday eating pie and brownies, listening to music, and responding to calls.
The firefighter- paramedics, who work 24 hours and 48 off, were hoping for a relaxing day...without the usual Thanksgiving calls.
Firefighter Paramedic Joshua Wilson says those calls include,
"Choking, or having a heart attack, or feels tummy sick, or whatever, we get all sorts of calls, the weirdest one's are stubbed toes."
Some of that is not so surprising since... the government reports 99- percent of Americans will spend more than an hour eating and drinking and nearly four hours watching TV.
