HOSPICE SANTAS
With Christmas just a few days away, more people are getting into the holiday spirit. And spreading some holiday spirit comes with the territory, but some spread cheer for another reason.
Fifty four year old Gary Mcclure quality of life wasn't always this comfortable. A Hawthorne resident, Gary was sick and in alot of pain, so he decided to come to the Haven Hospice for help. Coming to the hospice was not only good for his health but good for his spirits too.
During the holidays the hospice knows just who to call. Dennis Pollard of Santa America began his journey last year when he did an appearance for some children in Alachua. He joined Santa America which sends santas out to visit chronically ill people. Dennis Pollard says," He fell in love with the opportunity, the kids magic and their belief. It's just empowering and so much to see their faces".
The Haven Hospice has been serving North Central Florida since 1987 and has served nearly 40,000 patients.
