Gainesville's Police Chief Plans to Retire

Chief Norman B. Botsford
planning to retire from his position as Gainesville's Police Chief
today, April 16.
Botsford announced he will
retire but will remain Chief of Police while the city searches for a
replacement but no later than November 1, 2009.
Botsford has been the
Gainesville Police Chief since November 1, 1999 and has served the
State of Florida for more than 30 years.
Botsford served with the
Fort Lauderdale Police Department from 1966 to 1993 starting as a
parole officer and working his way up to Interim Chief of Police.
In addition, Botsford
served as Colonel and Director of Law Enforcement Services for the
Broward County Sheriff's Office from 1993 to 1997.
