Students' FCAT Scores Investigated
While many students are getting ready for finals, a handful of North Central Florida students are thinking back to their FCAT.... because they're being investigating for cheating on the exam.
Megan Cummings of Morriston says it took three tries to pass her FCAT. Monday she found out she got a score of 350, which is a passing grade... but she also found out three other students who took the test with her got the exact same score.
And the Department of Education released a statement, which read in part: "Since having two students answer all of the questions identically, or mostly identically, is highly improbable, we suppress the scores temporarily and ask the district to conduct a local investigation..."
Cummings says she refuses to retake it... even if it means she won't graduate.
"I already passed it. And that thing is impossible to pass and I'm not going to take it again because it takes all day and I'm not going to take it again," Cummings said.
All students must pass the FCAT with a score of 300 to graduate high school.
The investigation is on-going, and Cummings says the four students, along with their parents, will have a meeting at the school Tuesday morning.
