Friday was National Provider Appreciation Day, recognizing the work of child care providers.
The Early Learning Coalition of Alachua County held a provider appreciation event Friday night at the Turkey Creek Golf and Country Club.
Gainesville child care provider Swan Latson said support from parents and the community makes her work even more rewarding.
"It's good to get the recognition as child care providers cause child care providers work very hard with children," said Latson. "It's not a job that anyone can step into, it has to come from your heart."
