Starving Horses Update
Published May 19th, 2009
We have an update tonight on the story of three starving horses rescued from a farm in Ocala.
Two of those horses have been upgraded to stable condition.
The third horse, a 4-month-old foal named Tonka died Monday night.
But his mother and another mare are now eating and maintaining a normal body temperature despite being so starved that they looked like walking skeletons.
A veterinarian came to the rescue farm - Beauty's Haven Farm and Equine Rescue in Morriston - and said the horses' conditions were improving.
Employees say charges are pending against the owner and caretakers.
