Some say it's an unthinkable crime... abusing your own mother.
But two brothers are in jail tonight, charged with doing just that.
Investigators say 49-year-old Jerry Holland and 48-year-old Donald Holland did nothing to help their elderly mother, who one brother says was lying on the floor of their trailer for five days.
She was partially naked and surrounded by garbage.
Neighbors say in addition to the abuse, they're also appalled at the condition of the home. There were piles of beer cans in the house, in the yard and even in the bed of the truck.
"Five days in deplorable conditions, surrounded by beer cans, trash throughout the house, adhered to the floor. This has probably been one of the worst cases we'd seen," said Capt. Chad Reed of the Dixie County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators say Donald Holland was arrested in 2003 for aggravated assault.
Both brothers had their first appearance in court Tuesday morning.
Both of their bonds are set at $175,000.
