Some of the best tips regarding lowering your utility bills in the summer have to do with controlling your thermostat. Keep it at a set temperature. If you go out of town, turn your dial up to 82 or 86 degrees, this will control problems with humidity or moisture. Use the ceiling fan more often, this will make the home feel 3 to 5 degrees cooler. Make sure all windows and doors are closed when running the AC.
